This author is going to tread very lightly here. Dwayne is a no nonsense man, straight to the point and besides, he doesn't know he is being written about. This author also believes that after some 40 years in the stunt industry, Dwayne should for once, receive his dues. 40 years ago there was no stunt industry in Canada. Dwayne, at the onset, was one of maybe 5 performers. Dwayne was absolutely instrumental in bringing the film industry to Canada, by being able to offer what filming movies needed - stunts. Without stunt performers, especially with his talent, the movies and television and commercials simply would not have have crossed the 49th parallel. |

Not only is Dwayne a pioneer in the Canadian stunt industry, he is still a force to be reckoned with. At the top of his game today, Dwayne has forgotten more about his career and credits, than many 'up and comers' will ever have the chance of experiencing. In the words of one of his stunt driving students, "I can't believe I'm training with Dwayne McLean!". A driving force in most all he aspires to, Dwayne is responsible for the IFPDI Team coming together and offering such a fantastic opportunity to stunt performers and enthusiasts alike!

Apparently a man of many secrets (and completely uncooperative to this author), the nearest we can figure is that Dwayne launched his career in Vancouver. Somehow he went from a sporting goods proprietor to film. An avid sportsman and entrepreneur, knowing Dwayne, he got his fingers into it with sheer physical ability and unrelenting charm. After all, there was no such thing as a stunt resume in a time when there was no film industry. However he managed it, he made a mark and made Canada a great place to film. There are many people in this country who should be very grateful. The fallout from the film industry is not just felt by people directly related, but to the private sector too. |
