Gil Combs...this author is simply not sure where to start! Gil is a third generation stuntman. The three generations of Combs' have coordinated some of Hollywood's biggest features and television series dating back to the silent era. Gil's grandfather "Del" Combs, worked with such silver screen legends as "Gary Cooper" and "Clayton Moore", and many others. In fact "Del" trained the horse "Silver" for the long running "Lone Ranger" series. Gil's father "Gary" Combs during the next era, worked with such respected acting and directing talents as "Steve McQueen", "Paul Newman", "Henry Hathaway", and "Sam Peckinpah". |
The rest, as they say, is history. Gil today is undoubtably the "Rollover King"... After that first big gag on the "Blues Brothers", Gil knew exactly what he was meant to do. No silver spoon in the mouth here. Even with Combs name, Gil went on to master his craft in his own right. If you get a chance, talk to him about working with Schwarzenegger on "Terminator 2", or Warren Beatty in "Dicky Tracy". Gil worked closely with "Jeff Bridges" for more than 4 years. If nothing else ask him about doing all the stunt driving in the bus on the movie "Speed"....driving from the roof, nevertheless. |
Gil's tenacity and integrity is exactly what drew him in to teaming up with Shane and Dwayne today, and forming "International Film & Precision Driving Instruction Inc." He truly understands the sacrifices on the part of the stunt performer and their families. He is dedicated to preserving that history and the industry itself. And like his partners, he relishes in the opportunity to "pass it on"....
